Child Category Handling in Rakuten

The RoomBoss setting "Maximum age for a guest to be counted as an infant" does not apply to Rakuten bookings.

Rakuten applies its own child category structure to bookings. Please refer to the table below for details on which categories are supported by RoomBoss rate plans.

Rakuten Coupons

  • Rakuten coupons are displayed in the Message from Customer section.
  • Gross and sell prices are not automatically deducted by coupon values.
  • Multiple coupon value types exist in the Rakuten system.

Advance Card Payment & Guest Booking Limitation

When the Payment Method is set as "Advance Card Payment" (事前カード決済のみ). If a guest attempts to book via the Domestic site without logging in (Guest Booking - 非会員予約), they will see the payment option displayed as "Pay On Site" (現地で支払う).

However, if they attempt to proceed with the booking, they will receive an error (shown below). So it is not actually possible to create a Pay On Site booking if the Payment Method is set as Advance Card Payment. This case only affects the Domestic site for Guest Bookings; per Rakuten, most Domestic guests login to book as they receive points, and Guest Booking on the International site correctly supports Advance Card Payment.

No-Show Handling for Onsite Payment

  • Inbound bookings (global platform)
    Even for onsite payment bookings, a credit card is required on file. In case of a no-show, the hotel charges the stored card in accordance with Rakuten policy.

  • Domestic bookings (Japan local)
    For onsite payment no-shows, the hotel contacts the guest directly to collect payment. Rakuten does not intermediate the collection.
