Setup Categories

Its best to decide on and set up your categories first then add products.

Categories are managed via Product Setup >> Product Details on the Categories Tab.

It is best to set up Parent Categories first then add your Child Categories selecting the appropriate Parent Category.

Click Add Category to add a category, set the name, optionally a number to indicate the ordering of the categories and if adding a child category choose a parent category.

Once categories are added they can be edited and images added via the edit icon:

Test descriptions for categories can be managed via Product Setup >> Product Details on the Text Descriptions Tab.

Setup Examples​

There is a lot of freedom with setup and how products are grouped but the basic structure must be Parent Categories >> Child Categories >> Products.

Example 1 - Ski Rental Vendor​

An example setup for a Ski Rental Vendor might look like this, note there are 2 levels of category:

  • Ski Category (Parent Category)
    • Kids Ski (Child Category)
      • Kids Premium Ski Boots and Poles
      • Kids Premium Skis Only
      • Kids Regular Ski Boots and Poles
      • Kids Regular Skis Only
    • Adult Ski (Child Category)
      • Adult Premium Ski Boots and Poles
      • Adult Premium Skis Only
      • Adult Regular Ski Boots and Poles
      • Adult Regular Skis Only
  • Snowboard (Parent Category)
    • Kids Snowboard (Child Category)
      • Kids Premium Board and Boots

Example 2 - Hotel Services​

Setup for a hotel’s in house services might look like this:

  • Massage and Yoga (Parent Category)
    • Massage (Child Category)
      • 1 hour Shiatsu Massage
      • 1 hour Thai Massage
      • 1 hour Scented Massage
      • 1 hour Sports Massage
    • Yoga (Child Category)
      • AM Private Class
      • PM Private Class
      • AM Group Yoga
  • Food and Drinks (Parent Category)
    • Food (Child Category)
      • Breakfast Pack
      • Snacks Pack
      • Cake Selection
    • Drink (Child Category)
