Upselling

Upsells are used to increase guest service revenue by prompting customers to replace the item they are booking with a more expensive one or to add another items to the booking.

Upsell

Users can set up upsell rules to offer their own and 3rd party products based on the contents of the customers cart.

The Upsell offer text displayed to customers (a short and a long description) is user defined and can be added in multiple languages.

There are 2 supported types of Upsell, Replace and Add:

Replace

A single Replace offer per item can be displayed on the booking widget. Enacting a replace upsell will replace the selected item with the upsold one.

Add

Add offers are be displayed below the cart on the booking widget, enacting an add upsell will add the upsold item to the package. Add offers can apply to products, categories or vendors.

Upsell Setup

Setup is managed via Product Setup >> Upsells

Replace Upsell

When adding Replace upsells we are mapping a Product to a Product and setting offer text which will be displayed to customers.

With Replace upsells is also possible to specify a value for the primary product option, this would typically be used to offer an extension.

Add Upsell

When adding upsell we are mapping a Product, Vendor or Category to a Product, Vendor or Category and setting offer text which will be displayed to customers.

Upsell Examples

Upsells can be used to present any product you have access to book to your customers. Some examples are:

Replace Upsell Examples:

  • Offer a product including Lunch, where a product without Lunch is in the cart.

  • Offer a 4 days Lesson if a 3 day Lesson is in the cart (could be done in conjunction with a discount for longer lessons)

  • Offer a full Day Day Lesson where an AM (or PM) Lesson is in the cart.

  • Offer Premium Ski Rentals where Standard Ski Rentals are in the cart.

  • Offer a Ski Lesson, Lifts and Rentals package where a Ski Lesson is in the cart.

Add Upsell Examples:

  • Offer a Retuning Airport Transfer in the opposite direction if an Arrival Transfer in the cart.

  • Offer a Lift Ticket if Ski Rentals in the cart.

  • Offer Ski Lesson category if Ski Rentals in the cart.

  • Offer an Avalanche Safety Pack if Guiding in the cart.

  • Offer Lunch if any Lift Ticket in the cart.

  • Offer Tours vendor if any Ski Lesson in the cart.

Notes

  • Changes made to setup will not reflect instantly on the booking widgets, these can take up to 15 mins to show.

  • Offers for items already in the cart will not be presented to customers.

  • Offers with a lower availability will not be presented to customers (ie. an offer that would replace a reservations status item with a request one would not be presented to customers).

  • For replace upsells where product options for both products are the same products will be swapped, where more information is needed a popup will be presented.
