Before setting up products it's important to decide what information you need to record and whether that is information about the guest or the product they are buying.
Another consideration is convenience for the guest: if a guest is booking several products and information is recorded on the product rather than the guest they will have to enter the details about themselves several times.
Your guest are kept in the system so a returning guest will be able to re use the guests from last year.
Products are managed via Product Setup >> Product Details on the Products and Services Tab.
Each of your products can have up to 10 independent product options.
Note that a product option that will affect the price (for example duration on a ski school product) must be Option A.
Beyond that there is a lot of freedom with how products are set up, some typical products might be:
Product: Ski Rental
If a guest is booking ski rentals we need to know the duration of the rental and potentially their shoe size so these could be options on the product.
We may also need to know the guests height and weight but we can record this on the guest.
Product: Bottle of Wine
A very simple product, may be that we just need to record the type of wine as a custom drop down with 3 options. Setting the different options as Option A allows to us to have a different price for each bottle.
Product: Snowshoe Tour
A snowshoe tour product that operates twice a day that is for groups of 2, 3 or 4 people.
Product: Backcountry Tour
A Backcountry Tour that is 3, 5 or 7 days long.
General Product Setup Notes:
Checking the Compulsory checkbox on a product option will force a guest to make a selection in order to proceed with a booking.
Checking the Hidden checkbox on a product option will prevent this option showing to agents and on public booking widgets, it will still be settable inside your account.
Product names and product options can be multi language.
Internal only products are products that can only be booked inside your account these are not visible to agents or on public widgets.
It is possible to set up products to be sold based on an amount of stock, ask RB if you would like to use stock based products.
