Dual Key

A Dual Key room setup refers to a single apartment that is divided into two separate, self-contained accommodations. These are typically connected via a shared internal hallway, but each section has its own private, lockable entrance.

How Does RoomBoss Handle Dual Key Rooms?

In RoomBoss, a Dual Key apartment is managed as three linked accommodation products:

• Parent Room (e.g., 3-bedroom apartment)

• Child Room A (e.g., 1-bedroom section)

• Child Room B (e.g., 2-bedroom section)

Each room type can be booked independently, but they share interdependent availability rules:

• If the Parent Room is booked, neither of the Child Rooms can be booked.

• If one Child Room is booked, the other Child Room can still be booked, but the Parent Room becomes unavailable.

Booking Channel Recommendations

Direct Booking / Agents booking: All Dual Key room types (parent and children) can be safely offered. RoomBoss enforces the availability logic to prevent double-booking.

Online Travel Agencies (OTAs): While you can connect all Dual Key room types to OTAs, we strongly recommend against it. Most OTAs do not recognize Dual Key logic, which may result in overbookings (e.g., all three rooms being booked at once).

We recommend only connecting the parent OR children rooms to prevent any overbooking.

Alternative Configuration

An Alternative Configuration is a flexible way to sell your inventory by offering the same physical space in different formats.

For example, a 3-bedroom unit can also be sold as a 2-bedroom unit by locking off one of the bedrooms—without needing to set up a separate physical room.

How Does It Work?

• Each Child Alternative Configuration Room Type is linked to a Parent Room Type.

• The availability of the Child Alternative Configuration is based on the availability of the Parent Room.

• No separate inventory is required—RoomBoss handles availability automatically.

Example:

• Parent Room: 3-Bedroom Apartment

• Child Alternative Configuration Room: 2-Bedroom Apartment (with 1 bedroom locked)

• If the Parent Room is booked, the Child Room is unavailable—and vice versa.
